Air Quality Testing

Air Quality

Did you know that the air in your home can likely have more mould spores, unhealthy contaminants than outside?

Air quality testing ensures that your home or office is not the cause of your family's or employees' poor health. In Canadian weather conditions, we spend large amounts of time indoors. Ensuring good indoor air quality is of vital importance, constant sniffles and sneezes could signal the presence of allergens, pollutants and contaminants in your home or office.

Air quality testing from ARC Contracting Solutions Ltd. will reveal if there is an excessive amount of humidity, mould/pollutants, its spores and any other air contaminants, which can be causing those frequent trips to the doctor. Our superior testing methods will identify your indoor air quality problems accurately. Our sophisticated methods of locating and removing any pollutants will make sure you will have the peace of mind of a healthy environment.

Health Canada says clean air is essential for good health. And this is especially true when it comes to indoor air. As Canadians, we spend close to 90% of our time inside, at home, at work and in recreational environments. Most people, however, are unaware of the effects that poor indoor air quality can have to their health.

Some biological pollutants are living organisms:

  • mould
  • bacteria
  • dust mites
  • chemical pollutants
  • gases
  • particles that come from combustion in appliances
  • tobacco smoke
  • household and personal care products
  • various building materials
  • outdoor air

These can be visible or these can be virtually impossible to see. Our superior air quality testing will help you identify their presence and quickly get rid of the excess spore counts, bacteria, pollutants, and contaminants.

What and where are these air contaminants?

Kitchen

Moisture often leads to mould. Gas stoves or ovens can produce nitrogen dioxide which irritates the lungs and contaminates the air. Press wood cupboards contain an irritant called formaldehyde, and cleaning products have harsh chemicals too.

Living Room

New carpets can be a source of formaldehyde while old ones collect dust, mould and allergens, such as pet dander. The candles and incense you use to remove odours may actually be raising lead and volatile organic compound (VOC) including particulate matter.

Bathroom

Moisture and humidity are mould’s best friends. In addition, chemical aerosols from personal care products and air fresheners, and harmful cleaning products are released into the air you breathe.

Basement

Improperly maintained oil and gas furnaces can release carbon monoxide, while wood stoves emit dust and soot. Stored paint cans and solvents are a prime source of VOC’s. Most important leaky foundation can lead to mould and other biological contaminants.

Laundry room

Improper venting for dryers, floor drains, wet clothing, all create moisture, humidity and excess condensation which can lead to unhealthy air contaminates.

Building Envelope

Poor ventilation, air leaks, cracks and poor insulation systems that lead to water moisture, condensation, and water pooling which all lead to spore buildup, particulates and contaminates in the air.
